AIEEE is regarded as one of the highly competitive entrance examinations. It is conducted every year by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Every year, lakhs of students from across the country register themselves and appear for AIEEE, through approximately 1600 centers located in 86 cities across India. After the completion of the single-stage entrance examination, a centralized online counseling is organized, in order to fill All India seats, by the Central Counseling Board. The list of the states that generally use AIEEE ranks to fill their seats through their own counseling include West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab University, Chandigarh, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, Delhi Technological University, Delhi and N.S.I.T, Delhi under Delhi University
AIEEE tests the candidate’s abilities in particular disciplines studied by them at 10+2 level. For B. Tech/ B.E course, the candidate should have studied physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one of the following - Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, and Biology as optional subject at 10+2 level while for B. Arch. / B. Planning programme, the study of mathematics is necessary as a mandatory subject. Those, who are waiting for their 10+2 results can also apply. Apart from educational qualification, an age criterion also needs to be followed. The upper age limit to appear in All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) is fixed as 25 years although relaxation of 5 years is there for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH category.
