Government College of Teacher Education, located in Kozhikode/Calicut (Kerala), was established in 1950 as ‘Government Training College’. Initially, it was a part of University of Madras, but in 1957, it was affiliated to University of Kerala. Since the establishment of University of Calicut, Government College of Teacher Education Kozhikode is affiliated to this university. The college is approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bangalore and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with ‘A’ Grade. The institute imparts undergraduate level programme in the field of teacher education - Bachelor of Education (B. Ed), which is one-year full time programme.
