Yashwantrao Chavan Open University

Yashwantrao Chavan Open University (YCMOU), headquartered at Nasik in Maharashtra, is the fifth constitutional Open University of India. It had been established by the Government of Maharashtra in 1989 under an Act of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. YCMOU is a member of Association of Indian Universities, AIU, and Asian Association of Open Universities, AAOU. It has also been recognized by the University Grant Commission, UGC, New Delhi.

YCMOU offers a wide range of programs from the short-term certificate level up to the research and doctoral level. These programs cover varied academic disciplines and are coordinated by the eight academic schools of the university. All the courses are UGC recognized. Around 200 different courses are taught under the prospectus of this Open University in its learning centers. 

Keeping with the trends of open universities, Yashwantrao Chavan Open University is also flexible with regards to eligibility and admission, but strict rules are followed regarding examinations. The courses are offered in three languages, namely English, Hindi and Marathi.

 

Essential facilities like Library and Laboratories are available to the learners. All the study centers at Yashwantrao Chavan Open University have been positioned with ample infrastructure. YCMOU also provides E-learning mode of education for the extension of higher education in the filed of engineering and technology.  

Yashwant Rao Chavan Open University came into being in 1989 by an Act of Maharashtra State Legislature. This university has got Institutional Excellence Award - 2002 from Commonwealth of Learning. Since its inception, it has produced a number of professionals in various domains.
