With the quest for excellence in the field of design education, Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) was established in 2004, under the patronage of the renowned Symbiosis International University. Housed in an aesthetically designed and spacious building within the campus of SIU at Viman Nagar in Pune, Maharashtra, SID offers an undergraduate program under the 'Faculty of Media, Communication and Design' of SIU, approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). Since its inception, four-year Bachelor of Design (B Des) program is imparted in four major disciplines such as Communication Design, Fashion Communication, Product Design, and Fashion Design. The essence of creativity flows through the atmosphere of the institute which is ideally suited for exploring authentic conventional skills and the ethnic non-conventional skills among the aspiring designers.

Candidates who have completed the Intermediate/10+2 examination, or its equivalent, with at least 50% marks in the final year exam are eligible for the B Des program. They should also possess necessary designing related skills and creative aptitude.

Candidates are short-listed on the basis of Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) score, followed by the cumulative performance in Studio Test and Personal Interaction.
