Symbiosis International University (SIU) is located in the metropolitan city of Pune, an important educational hub of the country. Educational Streams
Symbiosis International University offers diploma, postgraduate and graduate degree programmes in various disciplines through its constituent institutes. Those constituent institutes established under the aegis of the University function as independent units for imparting education. Partial list of undergraduate courses offered by the University include BALLB, BBA, BCA, BBA-IT, B.Sc-MT, B,Des. Postgraduate courses viz. LLM, MBA, MBA-IB, MBA-AB, Ex-MBA, MCA, MBA-IT, MBA-ITBM, MBA-N & ITI and Masters in Mass Communication & Journalism are also available at the University.
Symbiosis International University also conducts entrance test for admission into various courses. Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is the common written test required for admission to the Symbiosis undergraduate institutes of Symbiosis International University. SET is a mandatory written test for securing admission in the undergraduate programmes. However, each Symbiosis institute has its independent selection process followed by the entrance test. There is a SNAP Test, which is an objective test comprising of 160 questions in total. Each wrong answer at SNAP attracts 25% negative marks.
Facilities
Symbiosis International University provides all kinds of modern facilities for its students. It has taken initiatives to equip the University campuses with several high-tech and advanced amenities for its students and staff. The university campus is equipped with Wi-Fi network that allows access to high-speed internet connection. General facilities like TV and VCR are available for educational purposes. Students can also use library, study rooms, research rooms, locker facilities and Xerox machine facility, etc.
History
In the year 2002, Symbiosis International University was conferred the Deemed to be University status by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Later in the year 2006, the word Deemed was withdrawn through a vide notification issued by the University Grant Commission.
