St. Joseph College of Teacher Education for Women, located in Ernakulam (Kerala), came into existence in 1957. It was established under the management of Vimala Province of the Congregation of the Mother of Carmel (CMC), which is a religious and charitable association. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. St. Joseph College of Teacher Education for Women is approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with B++ Grade.
St. Joseph College of Teacher Education for Women Ernakulam imparts teacher’s training programmes, which are imparted at the undergraduate as well as postgraduate level - Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Master of Education (M.Ed). Apart from these UG and PG courses, the college also offers Elementary Teacher Training programme (TTC), which is recognized by Kerala Education Department, Kerala. Graduation in any stream with not less than 45% marks in aggregate is needed to be eligible for this UG programme. For TTC, the candidates are required to have passed 12th standard of examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate, from any recognized state/national Board.
Post Graduate:
The candidates are required to have cleared B.Ed examination recognized by any University.

The candidates are short listed on the basis of Kerala B. Ed Entrance Exam, which is conducted under the Government of Kerala. For TTC, the selection of the candidates is done on the basis of their marks in the qualifying examination and performances in the personal interview.
