Shri Vijaya Mahantesh Arts, Science and Commerce College, located at Ilkal, Karnataka, was established in 1963. The college was founded by Shri Vijay Mahantesh Vidya Vardhak Sangha, one of the premier educational institutions of North Karanataka with a vision of bringing higher education to the poor and meritorious students of Ilkal. The college is treated as the mother institution under the flagship of SVM Soceity and affiliated to Karnatak University. Shri Vijaya Mahantesh Arts, Science and Commerce College is well equipped with 36 acres of straggling campus area and necessary infrastructure and human resources. The college offers undergraduate courses in Arts, Science and Commerce faculties. Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Chemistry (PGDIC) is offered as a unique course of one year duration which is run only by this institution of Karnatak University.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate:
The candidates who have passed the two year Pre-University examination conducted by the Board of Pre-University Education in Karnataka or any other equivalent examinations recognized are eligible for B.A/ B.Com/ B.Sc. degree courses.
Post Graduate Diploma:
A candidate who has completed B Sc with Chemistry or compted his/her graduation with Chemistry as one of the main subjects can apply for the PGDIC course.

The admission is done through short listing the candidates on the basis of percentage of marks and interview by admission committee, which is mandatory.
Post Graduate Diploma:
The admission of PGDIC course is limited to only 15 seats out of which 8 are from Management Quota and 7 are from University Quota.
