National Institute of Foundry & Forge Technology (NIFFT) Ranchi was set up by government of India in 1966 in collaboration with UNDP-UNESCO to provide the requisite quantity of trained man power at different levels in the industry. NIFFT Ranchi, as it is known, imparts technical education through its research programmes, refresher and special courses.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate:
Students must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects.
Diploma:
Candidates who have passed/appeared in final semester of Diploma in Met./Mech./Production Engineering conducted by State Board of Technical Education are eligible. Applicants who have passed/ appeared in final examination of B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Minimum marks in qualifying examinations are 50% for General, 45% for SC/ST. candidates. Knowledge of English is mandatory.
Post Graduate:
For Foundry Division, one needs Bachelor’s Degree in Mech./Met./Production Engineering.
For Manufacturing Engineering, Bachelor’s Degree in Mech./Met./Prodn./ Elect/ Aeron./Chem./Industrial Engg is needed.

Candidates need a proper GATE score. However it is not mandatory. Sponsored candidates with 55% marks in qualifying examinations may also be considered.
