Ranchi University

Ranchi University in Jharkhand was established in 1960. It is headquartered in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand. An affiliating university to University Grants Commission (UGC), it is a public university imparting multi-level courses in a variety of disciplines. A teaching-cum-affiliating university, it has jurisdiction over the districts of Ranchi, Palamau, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Lohardaga, Gumla, Garhwa, Chatra,Latehar, Simdega and Seraikela-Kharswan.

 

Ranchi University conducts traditional Bachelors and Masters level courses in Arts, Science and Commerce. Post Graduation Diploma is accorded in new age career-oriented courses of Food Preservation & Bakery, Plant Biotechnology, and Vastu Shastra. 

Recognizing the use of vocational courses in today’s world, the university imparts such courses in Computer Maintenance, Electronics, Environment & Water Management, Fashion Designing, Food Processing, Functional English, Functional Hindi, Information Technology, Mass Communication & Video Production, Nursing & Health Sciences, Principles & Practices of Insurance, Sericulture, and Travel & Tourism Management. 

PG program in Law awarded by the Ranchi university has quite a reputation. Certificate and Diploma courses are available in a range of career-oriented courses like Mass Communication, Electronics and Information Technology. Professional degrees are awarded in Engineering, Medical, Law and Education.

 

There is a central library with large books and journals for the academic needs of the students. Accommodation is provided to the girl and boys students separately. Computer center with Internet service is available in and around the university campus. Sports, cultural activities, social activities (through NSS) are promoted by the university.

 

Ranchi University came into existence in the year 1960 in Ranchi, the present capital of Jharkhand as a teaching cum affiliated University with the objective to promote higher education to the people of the region. It has carved a niche for itself in every strata of education whether it is sports, cultural activities or mainstream academia.
