Established in 1985 by Sri Mariamman Educational, Health and Charitable Trust, Mookambigai College of Engineering is one of the oldest Tamil linguistic minority institutions in Pudukkottai district of Tamil Nadu. The college comprises of well-equipped infrastructure, spread over a sprawling campus. Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, the college imparts education at undergraduate level in engineering and technology under the affiliation of Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. Mookambigai College of Engineering has been approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi for its value based technical education.

Students who have passed 10+2/HSC examination, or its equivalent, in science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) with minimum 55% (General Category), 50% (BC), 45% (MBC), and mere pass (SC/ST) from a recognized Board/University are eligible to apply for BE/B Tech courses. Those who have attained diploma from State Board of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or any other diploma with minimum of abovementioned aggregate marks in fifth/sixth semester of diploma and B Sc graduate in mathematics with minimum 60% marks are eligible to apply for admission in second year of BE/B Tech courses through lateral entry scheme.
