Mahatma Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences, located in Puducherry/ Pondicherry, started its first academic session in 1990. The institution is affiliated to Pondicherry University and is approved by Dental council of India (DCI). The dental institute was earlier named as Pondicherry Dental College and Hospital. It holds the distinction of being declared as the best Dental Institution in the Country, in the Government Sector, by the then President, Dental Council of India in September 2000 and in December 2004. Mahatma Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences imparts education in five years of undergraduate degree level Bachelor’s of Dental Surgery (BDS) course and postgraduate level Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in various specialties.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate:
Candidates are required to pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board in science stream with minimum 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together.
Post Graduate:
The candidates with Bachelor’s of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree of a recognized Board are eligible.
