Government College of Teacher Education, located in Thalassery (Kerala), is one of the oldest teacher’s training colleges in the state. Started in 1957, it is managed by Ministry of Human Resources and Development. At the time of its establishment, Government College of Teacher Education Thalassery was affiliated to University of Kerala, but later it was affiliated to University of Calicut in 1968. Since the formation of Kannur University in 1996, the college is affiliated to this University. The institute imparts course in the field of teacher education at the undergraduate level - Bachelor of Education (B. Ed), which is one-year full time programme. The UG programme is offered as per the approval of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bangalore. Government College of Teacher Education Thalassery is equipped with modern infrastructure to ensure smooth conduct of its course.
