Government College of Nursing Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) is affiliated to Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The college is approved by Indian Nursing Council and recognized by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. It offers B Sc (Nursing) of 4 and ½ years duration and Post Basic B Sc (Nursing) of 2 years duration. It also provides 6 months of training to the aspiring nurses, wherein they develop in-depth knowledge about the field of nursing and acquire training under the guidance of qualified and well experienced nurses.

for B.SC:
Candidates should have passed Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent in science stream or Intermediate Vocational (Nursing or MPHW) or Inter with Bridge course of Biological and Physical Sciences and should have secured minimum aggregate of 45%. In case of SC, ST categories 5% relaxation is allowed. Candidates should have completed 17 years age should not have completed 35 years age as on December 31st of the year of admission, for SC/ST candidates upper age limit relaxed by 3 years.
For Post Basic B.SC:
Candidates should have passed Intermediate or its equivalent (10+2) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology (Biology) as optional subjects and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course from any institution recognized by the Government of Andhra Pradesh / Nursing Council of India. Candidates should have completed 21 years and should not be more than 45 years of age as on 31-12-2009. For SC/ST candidates upper age limit is relaxed by 3 years applicants should have completed 2 years of service as a Staff Nurse.
