NTR University of Health Sciences

Dr NTR University of Health Sciences was established by an Act of Andhra Pradesh Legislature in 1986. When it came into being, the University was named Andhra Pradesh University of Health Sciences. However, it was later rechristened as Dr NTR University of Health Sciences. More than 300 colleges are currently affiliated to the university. Degrees awarded by the University are recognized by the Medical Council of India, the Dental Council of India, the Central Council of Indian Medicine, Indian Nursing Council and the Central Council of Homoeopathy.

 

NTR University of Health Sciences offers multi-level courses in Modern Medicine, Dental Surgery, Nursing, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani Medicine, Naturopathy, Physiotherapy and Medical Lab Technology. Pupils who have a PG degree in Modern Medicine can go for PhD. 

Students seeking admission in the university have to go through an entrance examination. The university has entered in collaboration with several foreign medical universities. MSc is conducted in Applied Nutrition, Nursing, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Physiology. Super Specialty courses are conducted in Clinical Pharmacology, Neph, Endocrinology, Neuro, Gastro ENT, Cardiology, CTS, Plastic Surgery, Neuro Surgery, and Paed Surgery.

NTR University of Health Sciences has a digital library that houses a collection of both print and electronic books and journals. Besides services like circulation, reprographic, reference service etc., the library also provides net based service to the users of all affiliated colleges of the university. Guest House facility is also available in the university premises.

 

Inaugurated on 9th April, 1986, the Andhra Pradesh University of Health Sciences was established by the Act.No 6 of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature. It was renamed as NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) on 2nd February, 98.
