Government Arts & Science College is located at Karwar of Uttara Kannad district in Karnataka. The college was started as Shri Keshav Gajanan Sabnis (KGS) Arts and Science College by Academy of General Education, Karwar in June 1961. Government of Karnataka has assumed the college in June 1977 and now it is under the administration of Department of Collegiate Education (DCE), Govt. of Karnataka. This has exposed the chances of higher learning for the poor and backward classes with a cheaper fee structure.
Surrounded by a semi-urban and straggling campus area of four acres with all modern educational equipments, Government Arts & Science College Karwar offers various general as well as skill-oriented courses. It offers undergraduate courses in Arts, science and Commerce subjects with varied combinations, Bachelor of Business Administration and M Sc in Industrial chemistry. Besides, a vocational undergraduate course in Industrial Fish and Fisheries, identified under the UGC Scheme is also offered to serve local needs of coastal Karwar region.

Undergraduate:
The candidates who have passed PUC examinations or its equivalent from a recognized Board in any stream are eligible for the B A, B Com and B B A courses. Those who have completed the same in science subjects are eligible for the B Sc courses.
Post Graduate:
Graduates in Science with Chemistry as the main subject can apply for the course M Sc in Industrial Chemistry.
