UPSC Geologists Examination is among the highly competitive job entrance exams in India. The test is conducted every year to scrutinize the candidate’s abilities, who desire to pursue their career in the discipline of geology and hydrogeology. Deserving candidates for Geologist Group A post in Geological Survey of India and Jr. Hydro geologists (Scientist B), Group A and Assistant Hydro geologists Group B posts in Central Ground Water Board are short-listed through this entrance exam, conducted by Union Public Service Commission. The candidate’s performance in the written test, followed by interview or personality test, is the only gateway to get recruited at aforementioned posts in Government sector. 
 
Geologists Entrance Examination Eligibility Criteria
 
In order to appear for UPSC Geologists’ Exam, the candidates are required to meet certain eligibility criteria, details of which have been mentioned below:
 
Nationality: The candidates with Indian citizenship are eligible. The candidates, who are subject of Nepal, Bhutan or Tibetan refugee who came over to India prior to 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, are eligible provided they possess a certificate of eligibility, issued by the government of India in their favour.
 
Age limit: The candidates, who desire to appear UPSC Geologists’ Exam, are required to be aged between 21 to 32 years as on 1st January of the year of examination. Age relaxation is there for candidates belonging to certain reserved categories including departmental candidates.
          
Educational Qualification: Candidates desirous to get employed for geologists’ posts are required to possess any of the following academic qualification:      
 
Master's degree in Geology/Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognized university
Or
 
Diploma of Associate ship in Applied Geology of Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad;
Or
 
Master's degree in Mineral exploration from a recognized university (for posts in GSI)
Or
           
Master's degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized university (for posts in CGWB)
 
The candidates, who are appearing for the required academic qualification, are eligible to apply provided they submit proof of passing along with detailed application form.
