Combined Defence Services Examination, popularly known as UPSC CDS Exam, is conducted for those who aspire to become defence personnel. The examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) twice a year. UPSC CDS Exam is the basic tool to measure the candidates’ aptitude to be a part of any of the defence academies of India. In other words, candidates desirous to join Indian Military Academy (IMA), Naval Academy, Air Force Academy or Officers’ Training Academy (OTA) will have to appear for the test.
Appearing for Combined Defence Services Examination does not guarantee that a candidate has been selected for his/her desired defence academy. Candidates will have to obtain excellent marks so as to qualify for further selection procedures. To acquire good marks in UPSC CDS Exam, candidates must prepare well in advance. Candidates preparing for the test must search for some sample papers, which will help them in preparing well for the exam.
