SLN Engineering College was set up in 1979 under the aegis of Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society or HKE Society, Gulbarga. The Society was established in 1958 by Late Sri Mahadevappa Rampure to provide technical education to the people of the districts of Gulbarga, Raichur and Bidar. HKE Society's SLN Engineering College is affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgaum and courses conducted by it are approved by All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE, New Delhi. The college conducts undergraduate level programme in the field of engineering - Bachelor of Technology (B Tech), a four-year full time programme.

Aspiring applicant is required to have passed PUC II or its equivalent examinations with physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages of study, he/she should have obtained not less than 45% marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry (relaxation for SC/ST 40%).
