Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) was established in 1959 by Warangal Regional Medical Education society. In 1977, the State Government of Andhra Pradesh took over the charge of the college. During that period, the college was affiliated to Kakatiya University. From 1987 onwards, KMC has been affiliated to NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada.
The courses offered by KMC Warangal have been approved by Medical Council of India (MCI). The educational institution is one of the 13 Government colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Various hospitals are also attached with the college. These include Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Government Maternity Hospital and Chanda Kanthaiah Memorial Hospital Warangal.
