Government Medical College (GMC) situated in Mysore, Karnataka, is a renowned institution for higher education in medical sciences. The college was set up in 1924 as the first in Karnataka. It holds the distinction of being the seventh oldest medical college in India. Therefore, it is renowned as one of the oldest medical colleges in the country. GMC Mysore is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and is also recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The management of the college is run by the State Government.
Government Medical College Mysore was formerly known as the Mysore Medical College. A number of hospitals have also been attached with the college, which includes K. R. Hospital, Cheluvamba Hospital and the P.K.T.B and Chest Diseases Hospital. The college runs various courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the field of Medical Sciences, with multiple facilities for its students.

10+2 examination must have done by the candidate in Science stream, including Physics, Biology, Chemistry and English with at least 50% of marks, from a recognized Board.
Post Graduate:
The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject.

Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted for the admission in this UG program, in which 85% of seats are meant for candidates of Karnataka, while 15% of the total seats are for All India Central Government quota candidates.

Post Graduate:
The candidates are selected on the basis of Post-Graduate entrance exam held by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. In the entrance, 75% seats are reserved for Karnataka residents and remaining for candidates from the rest of the country.
