Alagappa Government Arts College, situated at Karaikudi, in Ramnad district of Tamil Nadu, was established in 1947. Founded by the well known philanthropist Late Dr. RM Alagappa Chettiar of Kottaiyur, the college aims at offering qualitative higher education for the backward people of erstwhile Ramnad district and its nearby areas. Affiliated to Alagappa University, Alagappa Government Arts College is also accredited and assessed by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The Government of Tamil Nadu took over the management of the College in 1985 to offer several undergraduate and post graduate programmes in Arts, Science, and Commerce at affordable cost. Besides, the institute runs various professional courses.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate:
Candidates who have passed 10+2 examination, or its equivalent, in Arts subject from Tamil Nadu State Board of Education or its equivalent are eligible to apply for the BA/B Com/BBE/BBA/BCA programmes offered here. Those who have completed the same in science subjects are eligible for B Sc courses.
Post Graduate:
Candidates who have completed their graduation in relevant subjects can apply for the MA/M Sc/M Com courses offered here.
