Radiotherapy or Radiation therapy or Radiation Oncology is mostly used for the treatment of critical disorders like cancer, thyroid disorders and some blood disorders through the high energy X-rays. It is a three-year post graduation course, which explores the aspects of Radiation Biology, Radiation chemistry, relevance of radiation biology to radiotherapy, radiation effects on major organs/tissues, Clinical Radiotherapy, etc. Any candidate who has passed the MBBS degree from a recognized University thereto by Medical Council of India or any other State Medical Council is eligible for the MD in Radiotherapy course. Selection of the candidates is based on entrance examinations, such as PGMCET/ AIPGMT/ any other separate exams conducted by concerned Medical Institution. After successful completion of this course, one can work as a Consultant Radiation Oncologist in hospital, clinic, and health department in both Governments as well as private sectors or can start his/her own practice.
