Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMU) came into being at Nanded in 1994 after bifurcation of the Marathwada University at Aurangabad on 17th September 1994. It has been named after Swami Ramanand Teerth, a renowned educationalist and social activist. SRTMU has been recognized by the University Grants Commission, UGC, and accredited with two stars by National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC. At present, it has a long listing of affiliated colleges in Latur, Nanded, Parbhani and Hingoli districts.
Educational Streams
At SRT Marathwada University, the courses have been characterized by innovative ways in teaching, learning and evaluation with emphasis on the aspects of research, consultancy and extension services. Teaching at the Campus follows School system with interdisciplinary character. Each School offers interlinked courses under one roof with expert faculty. School system also imparts plasticity in planning and operation of the curriculum. At present active consultancy act is going on in the fields of Earth, Environmental, Chemical and Social Sciences. Currently, a number of Graduate and Master Degree courses are taught in several fields at SRTMU Nanded.
Facilities
SRTMU provides separate hostels for girls and boys. The University campus has a well equipped central library which has a large amount of books including the text books, periodicals, and reference books. Precious collection on Hyderabad freedom struggle, volumes of works of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Babasheb Ambedkar, Vinoba Bhave, Kakasaheb Gadgil etc is also available.
History
Established at Nanded in 1994, SRTMU has been after Swami Ramanand Teerth, the doyen of the Hyderabad liberation struggle. It was recognized by the University Grants Commission, UGC, in 1995.
