Sri Ramachandra University

Sri Ramachandra University (SRMC), situated at Porur in Chennai, was originally known as Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMC & RI). The University started functioning in the year 1985 as part of the Sri Ramachandra Education & Health Trust under the leadership of Shri N.P.V. Ramasamy Udayar. In September, 1994 SRU was granted the status of a Deemed University. The University has been accredited with A Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

 

At present Sri Ramachandra University has many Constituent Colleges with over 60 Departments offering about 100 Courses. SRMC provides quality education and research facilities for the advancement of medical education, healthcare for achieving a greater level of excellence in all these fields. 

The University offers Undergraduate, Higher Specialty Courses, Postgraduate, Basic Medical Sciences, Postgraduate Degree Clinical Courses, Postgraduate Diploma Courses, Masters In Basic Medical Science Courses, Postdoctoral Course, Postgraduate Dental Courses, Other Postgraduate Courses, Distance Education Courses, Ph.D and Certificate Courses. 

It has an agreement with Harward University for frequent scholarly exchanges, academic development programmes, faculty development programmes and transfer of medical resources. The university is at the forefront in clinical programmes in cardiology, research in environmental and occupational health sciences, interventional radiology, neurosurgery and transplantation.

 

Sri Ramachandra University offers basic facilities in the University campus including 24hr broadband internet connectivity, Bank Counter, ATM, Shopping centre and Travel desk. Hostel accommodation is also available for outstation students. A fully equipped gymnasium, recreation halls for games and infotainment are other facilities provided in the hostels. The Library at the University offers a fully automated Book Bank, Photocopying facility, Internet, online journals and Question bank for the students.

 

SRU was established by Sri Ramachandra Education & Health Trust headed by Shri NPV Ramaswamy Udayar as a medical college. It became a deemed in the year 1994 and it became a University in December, 2006.
