Purvanchal University

Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, located at Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, was established in 1987 as a residential-cum-affiliating university. One of the higher education centers in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, it is named after Late Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The university has enjoyed continuous qualitative and quantitative growth. It has more than 450 affiliated graduate and post-graduate colleges.

 

The university nurtures a long list of courses in multiple domains. It conducts Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Diploma courses for advancement in higher education. The infrastructure development, achievement of academic excellence, and quality assurance are some of the priority areas where university is putting its best efforts. The university has well developed residential campus, consisting of all the modern infrastructural support system needed for effective higher learning. It lays stress on Science, Technology and Professional education. Care is taken to update the curriculum on regular basis, and make it the best for the students.

Hostels for girls and boys, library, laboratories and all other required infrastructure have been provided to the pupils. Facilities like Canteen and Sports zones are also available. There is an active placement cell that works for arranging campus interviews of the students. The Central Library is large enough to take care of the educational needs of the students. The University is located at the distance of about 11 km from the historic city of Jaunpur on Jaunpur-Shahganj road.

 

Veer Bahadur Purvanchal University was established on 2nd October 1987 with the name Jaunpur University, an affiliating university under UP State University Act 1973. The university, which started with 68 affiliated colleges has now 450 plus affiliated graduate and post-graduate colleges. The inception of two-year full-time residential MBA course in 1990 was one of the first steps towards making change in the character of the university from affiliating to affiliating-cum-residential university.
