Punjab Technical University

Punjab Technical University (PTU) is a public university established by the Government of Punjab to promote technical education in the state. PTU has been awarded with the authorization to confer Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates under Section 3 of the University Act. All Council for Technical Education, AICTE, New Delhi has approved the professional Post Graduate Degrees offered by the colleges/institutes affiliated to Punjab Technical University. PTU is a member of the Association of Indian Universities.

 

Punjab Technical University has established / recognized Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Architecture, Medical Lab Technologies, Hotel Management & Catering Technology, and Information Technology colleges under its jurisdiction. The University has established 12 Regional Centres for M Tech courses and a school of Total Quality Management (TQM) at Mohali. Punjab Technical University has the credit of establishing more than 350 Learning Centers under distance education in various regions of Punjab and across the nation, which are conducting the diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses in multitude of disciplines. For entry in PhD, one needs Master degree in an allied discipline from a recognized university with a minimum 60% marks.

The University provides quality education in rural and urban areas. More than 350 Learning Centers have been set up. These centres conduct the diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses in a multitude of disciplines. The university is mindful of reinventing its distance education program so that it suits the needs of modern times. For all distance education courses, the new syllabus pattern is implemented to meet the requirements of current emerging field.

 

Punjab Technical University, located in Jalandhar, was established for advancement of Technical, Management and Pharmaceutical education in the state of Punjab at the Degree level and above on 16 July, 1997 by an Act passed by state legislature.
