Narsee Monjee Institute of Management and Higher Studies is a deemed University that has also been awarded the ISO 9001:2000 Certification. NMIMS is also the first business school of India to be accredited with a 5 star rating (the highest rating point) by the UGC sponsored National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

NMIMS University is famous for taking initiatives to address the needs of various sectors and launched sectorial specific post graduate programmes like MBA (Retail Management), MBA  (Pharmaceuticals Management), MBA (Services Management), MBA (Global Business), MBA (Actuarial Science), MBA (Capital Markets) and MBA (Banking). The University has developed learning through industry interface and presents state of the art, customised Management Development Programmes designed to meet the growing needs in the fields of Business strategy, HRD, Training and Organizational Development, Systems Development, Total Quality Management etc.

Besides the basic facilities being provided by the University it has equipped all classrooms and seminar halls with state-of-the-art audio-video aids and catering facilities. The Computer center of the University is loaded with adequate computers running on licensed system software and applications software and connected with Wi-Fi network. Apart from the regular services, NMIMS Library provides facilities like inter library loans, audio listening facilities, a photocopier, etc. An Audio Interactive Language Lab has been developed on the campus to facilitate students in preparing for Group Discussions or Job Interviews.

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies was established in 1981 to meet the growing demand for young managers. Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (the parent body) was among the first educational trusts to realize the need and further the interests of aspiring management students and also meet the needs of the challenging world of business.
