Headquartered at Belgaum in state of Karnataka, KLE University conducts wide range of courses mainly in medical disciplines. Administered by the Karnataka Lingayat Education Society or KLE Society, it was declared as a deemed to be University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956. KLE Society is currently running 160 educational institutions spread over several parts of the country.
Educational Streams
KLE University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, post doctoral, fellowship and certificate programmes in the field of Health care. The University has witnessed constant growth by exploring new areas in education viz. the establishment of the Institute of Public Health, Institute of Clinical Research and School of Music.
KLE University has also introduced some need based fellowship programmes in various specialties and PhD programme in health facilities and inter-disciplinary research. The existing curriculum of the University has been redesigned by integrating information and communication technology (ICT) to meet the changing global demands. Expanding its curriculum, it has added School of Music too to its kitty. The University has collaborated with renowned organizations viz. ICMR, WHO and several Universities in USA and also in SE Asia.

History
Established on 13th April, 2006, the KLE University was formed by a notification of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission. Apart from running educational institutions, the University also runs health care institutions including the super specialty KLE Society's Prabhakar Kore Hospital and Medical Research Centre at Belgaum.
