UPTU Faculty of Architecture is located in Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. The institute was started as a part of Government College of Arts and Crafts, in 1912. Spread over six acres of land, the institute boasts of being one of the oldest centers for technical education on architecture, in India. The college was separated from Government College of Arts and Crafts in 1976. Subsequently, the institution was renamed in 1980 and since then, it has been operating as Government UPTU Faculty of Architecture. The institute is affiliated to Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), Lucknow.
Until the academic session of 1999-2000, Government UPTU Faculty of Architecture offered a five-year degree course in Architecture. At that time, the college was affiliated to Lucknow University. However, due to Government's decision to get affiliation from Uttar Pradesh Technical University, just as other institutions imparting technical education did, the college was affiliated to UPTU. Currently, Government UPTU Faculty of Architecture is funded by the Technical Education Department of the UP Government.
