The medical college was established under the Sri Manakula Vinayaga Educational Trust, a registered Trust in 2006. It is affiliated to Pondicherry University and recognized by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College & Hospital has received the approval of Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi and is recognized by the state government.
