Located in East Delhi, near Welcome Metro Station, Shyam Lal College is among the prominent colleges of arts and commerce in Delhi. Efforts of Padamshri Shyam lal Gupta resulted in the establishment of the college in 1964, under the aegis of Shyam Lal Charitable Trust. The then President of India, Dr. Zakir Hussain, laid the foundation stone of the co-educational college. Since, then the college has made tremendous contribution in the field of education. Numerous well-qualified graduates have been produced by the college, which is affiliated to University of Delhi. Apart from Humanities and commerce courses, Shyam Lal College also offers science courses at undergraduate level in Physical Sciences and Applied Physical Sciences disciplines. It is also one of the known study centers of IGNOU, New Delhi.
