Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law was founded in 2006 by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, in collaboration with George Washington University Law School, Washington DC. It was set up on the recommendations of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and Board of Governors, IIT Kharagpur. Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law is considered as first law school to offer the study of law with specialization in Intellectual Property.
Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law is approved by Bar Council of India (BCI), Government of India, New Delhi for its academic program. Currently, the law institute imparts an undergraduate level course in the field of law - Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a three-year full time program. To organize comfortable study environment for its students, Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law is well equipped with ample state-of-the-art facilities for the students.
