National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) Mumbai was established in 1963 by the Government of India with the assistance of United Nations Development Project (UNDP) through the International Labour Organization (ILO). NITIE is an autonomous body under the Ministry of HRD, Government of India and is governed by a Board of Governors, comprising of eminent personalities from Government, Academicians and Industry.
NITIE Mumbai is India's only training institute that sought to teach materials management, work studies, inventory control, shop floor management and personnel management to India's industry professionals. The institute provides courses in the engineering field at the PG Diploma level which is approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). It also offers lots of facilities to its students like placements, sports, library, laboratory etc.

The aspirants must have done their Bachelor's Degree in any stream of Engineering/Technology or equivalent with First Division. For the Sponsored candidates, there is 5% relaxation in marks and should have minimum 2 years of relevant experience after graduation in Engineering / Technology / equivalent to be eligible for the PG programs.

The selection of the candidates is based on the CAT score, group discussion and personal interview. However, for the course of Industrial Engineering, GATE score is the criterion for the admission.
