National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (NITJ) is youngest amongst the eighteen NITs of the country. The institute is also known as Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology. NIT Jalandhar was established in the year 1987 as Regional Engineering College. The institute was given the status of a Deemed University by the Government of India, in 2002, under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology is now declared as 'Institute of National Importance' under an act of Parliament. The institute offers engineering courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate as well as doctorate level. NIT Jalandhar has state-of-the-art infrastructure for the overall development of its students within the campus.

Undergraduate:
Aspiring candidates should have passed 10+2 pass in the science disciplines, from any recognized Board.
Post Graduate:
M.Tech/M.Sc
Minimum academic qualification required is a BE/BTech or Master's degree in appropriate Sciences/Humanities/Social Sciences with a first class or minimum 60% marks or equivalent, from any recognized University.
Doctorate:
One must hold a Master's degree in Engineering/Technology in relevant areas with first class or minimum 60% marks with valid GATE score, or a Master's degree in appropriate branch of Science/Humanities/Social Sciences with first class or minimum 60% marks with valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR/NET qualified.
