National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut was established in the year 1961 by the Government of Kerala and Government of India. Located in Calicut (Kozhikode), it was started as Regional Engineering College, Calicut (CREC) and was affiliated with the Kerala University till the formation of the Calicut University in 1963. NIT Calicut has approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute conducts undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate level programmes in the discipline of engineering. Eligibility:
Undergraduate:
Student should have passed 10+2 or equivalent course recognized by CBSE as equivalent, with Physics and Mathematics as subjects. For admission under lateral entry scheme a students should have passed the three year diploma in engineering with first class and SC/ST candidate with second class.
Post Graduate:
M.Tech
Candidates are required to have passed BE/B Tech Degree with 60% marks (SC/ST candidates 50% marks) in aggregate in the relevant discipline.
MCA
Applicants should have scored minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) in Bachelors degree of 3 years duration from a recognized University with Mathematics / Statistics / Business Mathematics as one of the subjects, both in graduation and at 10+2 level.
MBA
Minimum educational qualification required is a Bachelors Degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology.
M Sc
Graduation in the relevant field is mandatory to be eligible for this programme.
Doctorate:
PhD:
Minimum academic requirements for PhD (Faculty of Engineering) is a M.Tech. Degree in Engineering/Technology in the appropriate branch of study with first class or minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates).
For PhD (Faculty of Architecture) a Masters degree in Architecture/ Design/ Planning/ Engineering/ Technology or its equivalent with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) is required.
For PhD (Faculty of Science & Humanities) minimum educational qualification required is a Masters degree in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Chemistry/ Physics/ Humanities (English Language Teaching) with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) is required.
Admission Procedure:
Undergraduate:
Students are admitted in the undergraduate courses (BE/BArch) through the All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) conducted by CBSE, New Delhi.

Post Graduate:
M Tech
Candidates are selected on the grounds of GATE score. Sponsored candidates, foreign nationals and dependants of NRIs do not require GATE score. Their selection is based on marks in the qualifying examination and/or performance in the interview.
MBA
Applicants need to go through CAT or JMET to secure admission. Other factors determining the selection are creditable performance in the group discussion & interview.
MCA
Admission to the MCA course is done through the NIMCET conducted by the NITs.
M Sc
Selection is done on the basis of marks in the qualifying examination and performance in the Test/Interview.
