Moti Lal Nehru College was named after Pandit Moti Lal Nehru, who was a great patriot, freedom fighter, leader and progenitor of a line of well known prime ministers. The college, initially named as Hastinapur College, initially functioned from a senior secondary school before shifting to its new and permanent campus in 1989.

Admission Procedure:
Undergraduate:
Admissions to the above mentioned courses are based on the merit secured in the qualifying exam and the availability of seats. Admissions to the above mentioned courses are done strictly as per the University guidelines and norms. For B.A (English), admissions are made on the basis of interview after falling in the cut off list. The aggregate percentage would be calculated on the basis of marks secured in one language and three relevant subjects, for preparing the merit list.
Post Graduate:
M.Sc
50% of the seats in M.Sc are filled on the basis of marks secured in B.Sc (Hons) exam (no entrance test), whereas the candidates having B.Sc (pass) degree are required to appear for the entrance exam.

Admission to this course is done on the basis of merit secured in entrance exam, conducted by the University.
