Manipal Life Science Centre (MLSC), as a constituent institute of Manipal University, was established in 2002 to impart multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teaching and researches in Life Sciences curriculum. The institute gained its independent status in 2006 and soon became one of the leading scientific hubs of Manipal, pioneering efforts in integrating Medical sciences with biological sciences.
MLSC has been recognized as TIFAC-CORE (Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council Centres of Relevance & Excellence), under vision 2020 in the area of Pharmacogenomics. Well equipped with excellent state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant learning atmosphere, the college imparts several UG and PG courses in Life Sciences such as B Sc in Biotechnology, M Sc in Medical Biotechnology, M Sc in Bioinformatics, and M Sc in Molecular Biology and Human Genetics, along with a certificate programme in Bioinformatics. In addition, the institute has been collaborated with several International Universities for twinning programmes in United States, Germany, The Netherlands, and Australia.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate:
Candidates who have completed 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, English, and Biology or Biotechnology or Mathematics or any other Life Science subject as optional, with at least 55% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and any one of the optional subjects are eligible to apply for the B Sc in Biotechnology programme offered here.
Post Graduate:
M Sc (Medical Biotechnology):
Candidates who have completed graduation in any Life Science subject from a recognized University/Institution with minimum 50% marks in aggregate are eligible for the M Sc in Medical Biotechnology programme.
M Sc (Bio Informatics):
Candidates who have completed their graduation in Basic Science / Life Science / Pharmaceutical Science / Medicine / Computer Science / Biomedical Engineering / Electronics / Biotechnology or other related Engineering Sciences with at least 50% marks in aggregate, are eligible for M Sc in Bioinformatics programmes.
M Sc (Molecular Biology and Human Genetics):
Candidates who have completed their B Sc in BSc with at least one subject of Biological Sciences/BAMS/MBBS/BHMS/BPT/B Pharm or any other professional graduate programmes from a recognized University and minimum 50% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for the M Sc in Molecular Biology and Human Genetics programme.
Admission Procedure:
Undergraduate:
Admission of the selected candidates into B Sc courses is held on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Biotechnology or Mathematics or any other Life Science subject as an optional in the qualifying examination.
Post Graduate:
Admission of the short listed candidates into M Sc in Medical Biotechnology and Medical Biology and Human Genetics is made on the basis of rank obtained in the All India Manipal University Online Entrance test (MU-OET), conducted by the Manipal University. However, admission into M Sc in Bioinformatics programmes is based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
