Lady Shri Ram College (LSRC) for Women is acknowledged as a premier educational institution in India, for women. Today, LSR is widely known for its academic excellence in various fields of study. Affiliated to the very prestigious Delhi University, LSRC proudly stands today as one of the finest institutions for Social Sciences, Humanities and Commerce, apart from offering courses like B.Sc. and Statistics. Courses like Elementary Education and Journalism are among the strengths of the college. LSR College has always strived to create women who are well equipped to be good and responsible citizens. The main aim of the college has always been to provide access to higher education for women.
Lady Shri Ram College was established in the year 1956 in New Delhi, by Sir Shri Ram, in memory of his wife. Initially, the college began its operation in Daryaganj, Central Delhi, with 243 students, 9 faculty members, 4 support staff and 3 different courses of study. At present, the college is located at a beautiful campus in South Delhi, spread over an area of 15 acres of land. It has about 2000 students, more than 150 faculty members, administrative and support staff and 16 courses of study. Lady Shri Ram College is not only known for its academic excellence, but also for its extra curricular activities. Students regularly take part in various inter-collegiate events.
Some of the outstanding societies of LSR College include the English/Hindi Debating Societies, Indian/ Western Music Societies, Dramatics Society, Projekt (film and photography society), Hive (art society), Dance Society, Quiz Society, Prakriti (environmental awareness society), Expressions, The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY), Women's Development Cell, and Academic Forum. Eligibility:
Undergraduate:
General Requirement: Candidates are required to have passed Senior School Certificate Examination (Class 12) from CBSE or any other recognized Board. The aggregate required for admission to the courses will be calculated based on marks obtained by them in English (which is the medium of instruction), apart from three other elective subjects. In case of B.A. (Sanskrit), this rule is not applicable.
B.A. (Sanskrit): Candidates are required to have passed 10+2 examination from CBSE or any other exam considered equivalent to it. In this case, candidates are given the choice of including any language other than English in their ‘best of four’ subjects.
B. Com (Commerce/Economics): Candidates should have passed 10+2 from CBSE or any other recognized Board, with Mathematics as a compulsory subject at the 10+2 level. For Economics Honors course, candidates should have scored 60% marks in Mathematics and 55% marks in English.
B.A. (English Honors): Those, who have passed 10+2 examination from a recognized Board or CBSE and having secured at least 70% in English / English Language or Elective English / Literature, are eligible to apply.
B.A. (Hindi Honors): The candidates should have passed 10+2 from CBSE or any other recognized Board, with minimum 60% marks in Hindi and 55% marks in English, in 12th Class.
B.A. (History Honors): The candidates are required to have passed 10+2 examination, with minimum 55% marks in English.
B.Com (Mathematics): To be eligible, candidates should have passed 10+2 from CBSE or any other recognized Board, with at least 88% marks in Mathematics and 55% marks in English.
B.Com (Statistics): Candidates should have passed 10+2 from CBSE or a recognized Board and should have scored at least 85% marks in Mathematics and 55% marks in English.
B.A. (Philosophy): Candidates should have passed 10+2 from CBSE or any other recognized Board, with at least 55% marks in English.
B.A. (Political Science): Candidates should have passed 10+2 from CBSE or any other examination considered equivalent to it, with minimum 55% marks in English.
B.A. (Psychology/Sociology): Candidates should have passed 10+2 from CBSE or any other examination equivalent to it, with minimum 55% marks in English.
B.A. (Journalism): Candidates should have done 10+2 from CBSE or any other recognized Board, with minimum 70% marks in English.
B.El.Ed.: Candidates are required to have passed 10+2 from CBSE or any other examination considered equivalent to it, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate, in the qualifying examination.
Post Graduate Diploma:
Candidates should be graduates in any field, from a recognized University.
Post Graduate:
The candidates should be graduates in the relevant field, from Delhi University or any other university considered equivalent to it.
Admission Procedure:
Undergraduate:
Candidates are selected on the basis of the marks obtained by them in the qualifying examination. In the case of B.A. (Journalism), candidates are required to attend an entrance test, which is conducted by the college, on behalf of the University.
Candidates to B.Ed. course are admitted on the basis of their performance in examination and interview, conducted by Central Institute of Education (CIE), in the main University Campus.
Post Graduate:
Admission to M.A/M.Sc courses are done by the respective faculty of Arts, University of Delhi. Candidates are short-listed on the basis of their marks obtained by them in the qualifying examination (graduation). The rules and regulations laid down by the college are strictly adhered to, at the time of admission.
Post Graduate Diploma:
