Kamala Nehru Memorial National College for Women is an initiative of National Education Society (NES), founded by Shri. Lal Bahadur Shastri, former Prime Minister of India in 1965. However, the college building was inaugurated by the poet laureate Rashtra Kavi Kuvempu in 1975. The college is the first and only women’s educational institution in the Malnad area. Situated in Shimoga district of Karnataka, Kamala Nehru Memorial National College for Women is affiliated to Kuvempu University, Shimoga. The college offers bachelor degree courses in arts and commerce faculties. The college also conducts job-oriented certificate courses in Tailoring and Fashion designing, Interior Designing and Home Furnishing, Hand Embroidery etc, which play a vital role in giving the women professional identity and respect in the society.

Candidates who have completed two-year pre-university examination (PUC) conducted by the Karnataka Pre-University Board, or any other equivalent examination recognized by Kuvempu University, are eligible to apply for the BA/B.Com courses. Students who have passed three-year Diploma in Commercial/Secretarial Practice, conducted by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka are eligible to seek admission in the third semester of B.Com directly. Such students will not avail the benefit of exemption in any subject of the last four semesters of B.Com and those who have completed two-year Diploma in Business Administration can take admission directly to the fifth semester of B.Com. However, they have to clear the two language subjects of first four semesters of B.Com.
