Jagannath Barooah College, located in Jorhat district of Assam, is an aided co-educational institute. The college has gained the status of one of the premiere institutes in Assam for its academic excellence, since its establishment in the year 1930. J.B. College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC). The college is also assessed and accredited with a “B+” certificate by NAAC. The college offers several undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce faculties. Besides, the college runs post graduate programs in Geography and Philosophy, affiliated to Dibrugarh University and MA and M.Com courses in several subjects, under the scheme of Distance Education conducted by Dibrugarh University. Candidates who have passed the intermediate/10+2 level examination of AHSEC/CBSE, recognized by the State Govt. of Assam, in any discipline are eligible for BA/B.Com courses offered here. Those who have completed the same in science subjects are eligible for B.Sc courses offered here. Candidates who have completed the 10+2 exam in any discipline with minimum 45% marks in aggregate with Mathematics or Statistics or Commercial Arithmetic and Statistics as a qualified subject, are eligible for the BCA course offered here. Candidates, who have completed their 10+2 exam in Science with at least 45% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in Mathematics and Physics separately, are eligible to apply for the B Sc (IT) course.
Post Graduate:
Graduates in relevant subject are eligible to apply for MA courses offered here.
Admission Procedure:
Undergraduate:
Admission of the selected candidates to all general UG programs is done on the basis of percentage of marks obtained by them in the 10+2 level and as per the norms of Dibrugarh University. Whereas, admission into BCA and B Sc (IT) programs is made through admission test and personal interview, conducted by the college itself.
Post Graduate:
Admission to post graduate programs is made as per the norms of Dibrugarh University.
