Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition in Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta) works under the sponsorship of Ministry of Tourism - Government of India. It is affiliated to National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT) for all its courses and is governed by a society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. IHM Kolkata, established in 1963, provides education in B. Sc degree course in Hospitality and Hotel Administration, which is jointly awarded by National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology, New Delhi and Indira Gandhi Open University, New Delhi. Apart from undergraduate, three-year degree programme, the institute also offers post graduate diploma course in Accommodation Operation Management and craftsmanship programme in Food and Beverage Service and Food Production. The alumni of the institute are working with some of the reputed organizations in the field of hospitality.

The candidate should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination from a recognized Board/University. Besides, he/she should not be more than 22 years of age as on 1st July of the year of admission.
Post Graduate Diploma:
Any graduate of Science/Arts/Commerce or professional program from a recognized University are eligible, provided they have studied English as a subject of study at graduation level. The upper age limit fixed for a candidate is 22 years as on 1st July of the year of admission.
