Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition prominently referred to as IHM Ahmedabad was originally established by the joint efforts of Government of India and Government of Gujarat in 1972 as Food Craft Institute. Later in 1984, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India upgraded the institute and renamed it to its current name. IHM, Ahmedabad, affiliated to National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT), New Delhi, was ranked at fifth position among all IHM’s for the academic session 2007-2008.
To encourage the overall development of the students and to provide them with practical exposure, the institute organizes various activities like Food Festivals, Chef Competitions, Educational Tours, Fairs and other recreation activities. It offers high standards of education through its three-year, undergraduate, Hospitality and Hotel Administration degree Programme and one and half years of Post Graduate diploma program in Accommodation operation and Management and Certificate course in Air Hostess / Cabin Crew, which is conducted in association with Directorate of Employment & Training.

The candidates are required to pass 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream, from any recognized Board.
Post Graduate Diploma:
Female Graduates in any field from a recognized University are eligible. In addition, the upper age limit of the candidate is fixed as 25 years as on the year of admission.
