Hindu College Delhi was established in the year 1899. It is a constituent part of the University of Delhi, popularly known as Delhi University. Located in the university enclave of the Delhi University, the college is one of the most sought after institutes among students for pursuing quality education at the graduation and post graduation level. Since its inception, Hindu College has seen tremendous growth for itself. It offers courses in Science, Humanities, Commerce and Information Technology. Popular and job oriented short-term courses are also available for the students.
Hindu College has very often been ranked one among the top colleges in the country not only for one stream, but for all the three arts, science, and commerce. Hindu College was founded by Late Shri Krishan Dassji Gurwale. Previously it was affiliated to the Punjab University. It started functioning from its present campus from the year 1953. It became a place of great intellectual activity during the Independent movement of our country.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate:
Largely, admission in all the undergraduate courses is open for a 10+2 pass candidate or an equivalent exam (recognized by Delhi University) pass candidate. For almost all the honours courses the minimum marks in aggregate, should be 60%.
B.A. (Honours) English
The candidates should have secured 60% in English-Core or functional, and 60% aggregate in the best four subjects of the class XIIth examinations.
B.A. (Programme)
Applicants securing at least 50% marks in English, at 10+2 level, would be considered for merit based admission.
Post Graduate:
A graduate in the respective subject for the admission is eligible.

Apart from these two clear methods, there are some differences in the admission process for the following courses-
B.A Honours (English)
Admission is done through a Combined Aptitude Test for English (CATE).
For the admission in B.Sc and B.Sc (honours) Admissions will be based on merit.
From marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Mathematics
Admissions are based on merit to be determined by marks in best four subjects (Mathematics+one language+two elective subjects).
Statistics
Admissions are based on merit determined on the basis of the marks in the best four subjects (including Mathematics and English) from Science/Commerce/Arts streams (excluding Home Science, Fine Arts, Physical Education, Music, Logic, Painting and other Vocational subjects).
B.Com. (Hons)
The candidate must have studied and secured a minimum of 60% marks in English and Mathematics.
Sanskrit
Students who have studied Sanskrit up to Class X and XII are eligible to apply.
Sociology
Proficiency in spoken and written English is a must, to be eligible.
Music
B.A. (Programme)
Admission to this course will be on the basis of both merit and sports/extra-curricular activities. Applicants securing at least 50% marks in English are eligible.
B.A. (Programme)
Applicants securing at least 50% marks in English would be considered for merit based admission.
