Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences Dehradun (HIMS) is located in Dehradun, Uttaranchal. Established in 1995, the institute is situated amidst picturesque location in an extensive land area of 250 acres, well equipped with all the modern facilities. The medical institute has been awarded the status of a Deemed University by the Govt. of India under Section 3 of University Grants Commission Act 1956.
Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences functions under the supervision of Himalayan Institute of Hospital Trust (HIHT). Later on, the name of the Deemed University was changed to HIHT University. All the courses offered in the institute have been recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI). HIMS is attached to the biggest medical hospital in Uttarakhand by the name Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust a 750 bedded hospital, catering to the health care need of the people.

Undergraduate:
Minimum qualification required is that candidate must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2 level) / Intermediate / Equivalent Examination from a recognized University with the Science subjects.
Post Graduate Diploma:
Candiadte must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2 level) / Intermediate / Equivalent Examintaion from a recognized Board with Sceince subjects or must be a diploma holder in the respective branch. If a candidate has already passed Diploma in the respective branch, then the duration of the course will be 2 years instead of 3 years.
Post Graduate:
Minimum qualification required is that candidate must have MBBS Degree recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI).
Undergraduate:
Admission is on the basis of merit obtained by the candidate in the Pre Medical Entrance examination conducted by the University in month of May.
Paramedical: Admission is done on the basis of merit obtained by the candidate in the qualifying examination.
Post Graduate:
Admission is done on the basis of merit obtained by the candidate in the All-India competitive examination conducted by the University in the month of January / February.
Post Graduate Diploma:
Admission is done on the basis of merit obtained by the candidate in the All-India competitive examination conducted by the University in the month of January / February.
