Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology was set up in 1908 at Serampore in West Bengal. The institute functions under the sponsorship of Directorate of Technical Education, Government of West Bengal, and is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology offers education at under graduate as well as post graduate level. The college was earlier named as College of Textile Technology.
