Dr T Thimmaiah Institute of Technology is a premier college for technical education, located in Kolar district of Karnataka. It was established in 1986. The college functions under the aegis of Golden Valley Educational Trust. Dr T Thimmaiah Institute of Technology was established in order to fulfill the purpose of imparting quality technical education to all, especially people of backward section of the society.

The course is open to students who have cleared II PUC / 12th std. or equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Electronics as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study. Students should have obtained at least 45% Marks (40% incase of SC/ST & OBC). Diploma holders with 45% are eligible to join 3rd Semester directly through Common Entrance Test (CET) to the appropriate Engineering Courses.

Admissions are conducted through written entrance test KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) or COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka) conducted every year by various test agencies.
