Dr BC Roy Engineering College in Durgapur was set up in 2000 in memory of Durgapur based philanthropic and entrepreneur Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. The institute was initially affiliated to University of Burdwan, for the session 2000-01. However, from 2001-2002 onwards, the affiliation of the college was shifted to West Bengal University of Technology. Courses offered by the college are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) and Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal. Several courses conducted by Dr BC Roy Engineering College are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

Eligibility:
Undergraduate:
The candidates must have passed their Higher Secondary or equivalent examination in science stream, from a recognized Board.
For admission into the II Year of B Tech, the candidates must have a diploma with 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university in the relevant field. In case of Information Technology degree course, a diploma holder in Computer Engineering would be eligible. He/she must be a permanent resident of West Bengal for atleast 10 years.
Post Graduate:
M Tech
The candidate must have a first class BE/ BTech / AMIE or equivalent degree in ECE/EIE/EE with Communication as specialization or first class MSc degree in Electronics from any recognized university / institution.
Or
First class BE / BTech /AMIE or equivalent degree in EE/Power Engineering, from any recognized university.
MCA
Candidates must have a Bachelors’ degree in any discipline from recognized university with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
MBA
Candidates, with a Bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognized university, are eligible. Candidates in the final year of the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.
Admission Procedure:
Undergraduate:
Admission to the B Tech is done through West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WB JEE) for 85% of the seats or All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) scores of the candidate for 15% of the seats.
Admission into II Year (Third Semester) of the B Tech program is done through West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination for Lateral Entry (JELET), for the 10% of the seats available in the institute.

Post Graduate:
M Tech
Admission is done on the basis of candidates Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) score. Non-GATE candidates have to appear in admission test followed by an interview.
MCA
Admission is done on through Joint Entrance Exam for Computer Application (JECA) conducted by West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT).
MBA
Admission is done through Common Admission Test (CAT)/Management Aptitude Test (MAT)/ Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test (JEMAT).
