In order to select deserving candidates for admission into both, full-time and part-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Application (MCA) courses, state Government took the initiative to conduct Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET). The candidates, who desire to seek admission into aforementioned programmes, are required to appear in the entrance examination.
Syllabus
Syllabus of GCET is designed on the lines of the national level entrance exam-CAT/MAT. Overview of detailed syllabus of GCET has been mentioned below-
In order to prepare for Quantitative Ability section, study of following topics will be helpful- Geometry, (Lines, angles, Triangles, Spheres, Rectangles, Cube, Cone etc), Ratios and Proportion, Percentages, In-equations, Quadratic and linear equations, Algebra, Profit & Loss, Averages, Percentages, Time-Speed-Distance, Work and time, BODMAS, Mensuration, Allegation & Mixtures, Work, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Set Theory, Probability, Permutations & Combination, Number system: HCF, LCM, Geometric Progression, Arithmetic progression, Arithmetic mean, Geometric mean , Harmonic mean, Median, Mode, and Number Base System.
For Data Interpretation & Reasoning, study of graphs including Column graphs, Bar Graphs, Line charts, Pie Chart, Graphs representing Area, Venn diagram, etc is required. Apart from that, practices of following- identifying Strong arguments and Weak arguments, Statements and conclusions, Cause and Effect, Identifying Probably true, Probably false, definitely true, definitely false kind of statement, Critical reasoning, Visual reasoning, Assumption-Premise-Conclusion, Symbol Based problems, Coding and decoding , Sequencing , identifying next number in series, Linear arrangements, Matrix arrangements is also must.
In order to prepare for English/Language Section, practice of Comprehension of passage including Poems, Verbal Reasoning, Analogies, Antonyms, Jumbled paragraphs with 4 or 5 sentences, Sentence Correction, Foreign language words used in English, Sentence completion, Sentence correction, odd man out, idioms, one word substitution, Different usage of same word etc. is mandatory.
For General Knowledge / General Awareness / Business Knowledge section, study of Current Affairs, Business, Punch line of companies, names of Top officials of prominent companies, Major corporate events, Important quotations, Famous award and prizes, World Records, Books and authors, current development in the field of Science, History, Geography, Sports, Finance, Automobiles, Entertainment, Politics, International organizations like WHO, UNESCO etc is necessary.
