The aspirants, who are seeking admission in integrated Master of Science (M.Sc) program imparted at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER, Bhubaneswar) and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS), have to appear in NEST Entrance Exam. The entrance test, also known as National Entrance Screening Test, is conducted by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.
Examination Pattern
National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is considered as one of the unique entrance tests conducted in the science stream. The examination pattern of NEST exam is given in the following lines.
Pattern of NEST Exam
- All the questions in NEST Entrance Exam are of objective types with each question carries four options to choose right one from them.
The questions in the paper are divided into five sections:
- General
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- Physics
- The first part (General) of the paper, which carries 60 marks, is mandatory for all students. In the remaining four sections, the students have to attempt any two, which are of 70 marks each.
- There is a provision of negative marking in the entrance test.
- All the instructions and questions are only in English medium.
Personal Interview
The candidates, who have successfully cleared NEST Entrance test, must appear in personal interview (conducted in various test centers). The final selection of the candidates is purely done on the basis of their performance in NEST Entrance Exam and personal interview.
