Centre for Management Services conducts Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for the admission in postgraduate management programs, particularly in Master of Business Administration (MBA). The center conducts this competitive entrance test on behalf of All India Management Association (AIMA). MAT exam, which is a National Level Test, is conducted four times (January, May, September and December) in a year.
Examination Pattern
The question paper of MAT exam of the test is designed as to examine a candidate’s skills and knowledge. This is the reason why the management of the competitive entrance test has not prescribed any particular curriculum for it. The examination pattern of MAT exam changes from year to year. However, the examination pattern given below have been followed every year.
- Management Aptitude Test (MAT) consists of multiple choice type questions. Each question comprises four options, in which the candidates have to choose the right one of them.
- The candidates are awarded with one mark for each correct answer. There is no provision for negative marking in the aptitude test.
- The test consists of 200 questions, which are expected to be answered by the candidates within two and a half hours duration.
The competitive entrance test contains five papers:
Language Comprehension (40)
Mathematical Skills (40)
Data Analysis (40)
Intelligence & Critical Reasoning (40)
Indian & Global Environment Section (40)
- The scores of the candidates are predominantly based on the marks in first four papers of the test but consideration of the marks of paper five (Indian & Global Environment Section) largely depends upon the institutes.
